Call of Duty: Ghosts is an upcoming FPS title, the next installment in the Call of Duty series. It is releasing on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, Wii U and next-generation platforms: the PS4 and next Xbox.


Rumor reveals that the game is straying from the popular Modern Warfare brand, but is leading into a new direction. The new title is reportedly set in the future, much like Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops II; however, a major plot point will be keep the players stuck with present-day weaponry. No futuristic technology.

Player movement is altered in the rumored Call of Duty: Ghosts title. Players will be able to “dash” and “slide” in battle while in the process of shooting, peek around corners, and roll side-to-side when prone.

Multiplayer will now feature dynamic loading screens, like rappelling from a helicopter or entering a building by breaking in through a window. Destructive environments have been implemented into single player; however, it may later appear in Multiplayer. Finally, Spec Ops mode has been supposedly removed and replaced with a new mode.

Leaked images of the box art have appeared as product listings on major retailer websites such as Target and Tesco. Tesco leaked a description of the rumored upcoming title, which reads:

“The franchise that has defined a generation of gaming is set to raise the bar once again with the all-new Call of Duty®: Ghosts. Published by Activision and developed by Infinity Ward, the studio that created the original Call of Duty and the seminal Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® series, Call of Duty: Ghosts ushers in the next generation of the franchise, delivering a riveting all-new gameplay experience built on an entirely new story, setting and cast, all powered by a new next-generation Call of Duty engine.”

The official Call of Duty website, on April 29th, was updated (re-directed to, to reveal a mosaic, meant to be filled with Facebook and Twitter profile pictures of people in the community. In the coding of the website, members of the community located an image that read the phrase “The Ghosts Are Real.”

Infinity Ward and Activision revealed this title with a teaser trailer on May 1st. The full reveal of the game is set for May 21st during Microsoft’s Next-Generation Xbox event.

Neversoft and Raven Software will be assisting Infinity Ward in the development of this title.
